Breast Cancer Tips
What Causes Breast Cancer?
Identifying Your Breast Cancer Risk
Many women want to know their individual risk of getting breast cancer, even though they realize this knowledge will not prevent the disease. Available tools to assess your personal risk include the National Cancer Institute's Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Tool (http://bcra.nci.nih.gov/brc) and the Halls Detailed Breast Cancer Risk Calculator (www.halls.md/breast/risk.htm). Your risk will be determined as a percentage after you answer some key questions. Talk to your doctor to fully understand your results. Your risk level does not tell you if you will get cancer or not. Women with very low risk still develop the disease, and some women with high risk don't. Every woman should take breast cancer seriously, no matter her risk.
