Information About Breast Cancer In Men
Men Can Get Breast Cancer, Too
All children are born with the basic breast structure, including nipples. At puberty, female hormones stimulate growth and changes in the breast in order to prepare the female body for childbirth and breastfeeding. Male hormones develop elsewhere in men's bodies, like the testicles. However, men do have a certain amount of breast tissue. Usually, it's just a nipple, a few ducts and a lobule or two, surrounded by some fatty tissue. In some men, however, this is enough for cancer to start. Men should keep this in mind. It won't hurt a man to look through the breast cancer information his wife or girlfriend brings home from the doctor, and it could save his life.
