Information About Breast Cancer In Men
Men's and Women's Breast Cancer Is Very Similar
The tissue of a male breast is undeveloped compared to the tissue of a female breast. The woman's breast includes the necessary equipment for producing and storing milk, while a man's breast is a few ducts and little else. This gives a woman's cancer more places to develop. In 80-90% of cases of men's breast cancer, the disease will begin in the ducts and spread to neighboring tissue. But breast cancer itself is pretty much the same in a man or a woman. Most information and resources about breast cancer apply equally to men and women. While a man's risk is significantly smaller than a woman's, he can take advantage of the same resources and educate himself all the same.
