About Stage II Breast Cancer
Stage II breast cancer means the tumor is larger than a Stage I tumor (which is less than two centimeters) and/or that your underarm lymph nodes have been affected. Stage II breast cancer is divided into Stage IIA, characterized by a tumor 2-5 centimeters across but no lymph node involvement; and Stage IIB, which is when the tumor is more than 5 centimeters across or the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes. Discuss your treatment options with your doctor. For Stage II cancer, these options could include removal of the tumor and underarm lymph nodes or a partial mastectomy, combined with radiation therapy.
